Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the first meeting take?
The first meeting typically lasts about 60 minutes. It’s a conversation designed to help your advisor get to know you — your goals, dreams, plans and current financial situation — so we can understand how to best support you. There’s no pressure or obligation, just a chance to see if we’re the right fit.
What financial documents should I bring with me to the meeting?
It’s helpful to bring a summary of your current investment accounts (statements work well), your most recent tax return and a basic outline of your budget, including any outstanding debts. This gives us a clear starting point to understand your financial picture and provide more tailored guidance. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything; we’ll meet you where you are.
How do I know if my Mach 1 financial advisor is acting in my best interest?
Mach 1 Financial Group is a fiduciary advisory firm, which means we are legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. We offer advice that always puts your needs first and avoids any conflict of interest.
What is a CFP®?
A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professional is someone who has met rigorous education, examination, experience and ethics requirements. They are trained to provide comprehensive financial planning across areas like investments, retirement, taxes and estate planning.
How does my advisor get compensated?
Our compensation is based on a percentage of the assets we manage on your behalf. In some cases, if an insurance product is a good fit for your financial plan, we may also receive compensation directly from the insurance company. Any recommendations we make are always guided by what’s in your best interest as a fiduciary financial advisor.
Where will my assets be held?
Your investment accounts will be held with a trusted third-party custodian — either Schwab, LPL, Fidelity or Betterment. If your plan includes an insurance product, a portion of your assets may be held directly with the insurance company providing the policy. We’ll always be transparent about where your money is and how it’s being managed.
Will Mach 1 be able to work with my attorney, CPA and other valued professionals?
Yes, absolutely. We believe in a team-based approach and are happy to collaborate with your attorney, CPA or other trusted professionals to ensure your financial plan is well-coordinated and aligned across all areas. Working together helps us serve you better.
What if I already have a financial advisor?
That’s perfectly OK. Many clients seek a second opinion to make sure they are satisfied with their current financial plan. We’re happy to review your current plan and offer objective feedback with no pressure or obligation.
